The Australia Post Mailstats application provides detailed statistics on all letter processing at a centralised mail centre.
Solution/Services
A DBAInc project team worked on supporting and developing the Mailstats environment to initially provide a number of enhancements to the application to be able to deliver a consistent suite of reports domestically and nationally. DBAInc was asked to take the lead vendor management role to introduce Business Objects into the application.
DBAInc was instrumental from a technical due diligence point of view in tool assessment, and then became responsible for providing SME/support throughout the development phase to implement the toolset. It involved quite a significant number of initiatives to centralise the system (to Linux from Tru264)
DBAInc was also involved in productionising and supporting the ETL to transform and centralise data and reporting against a single data store at Head Office, rather than the local branches producing their own version of reports.
Outcomes & Benefits
DBAInc consultants were involved in transforming the application from a localised and largely uncontrolled application that provided ad-hoc, local access to statistical data, into a monitored and centrally controlled application providing a consistent suite of reports for both local mail centre management as well as giving a centralised and national view on mail processing progress and status.
The project is viewed by Management as being highly successful. DBAInc consultants continue to support the product suite.
