DBAInc were engaged over ten years ago initially to work with Telstra, and continue to work across multiple programs of work for them.
DBAInc are responsible for the database design, implementation and support of the WIZARD Subscriber Management System. DBAInc were also responsible for the conversion of the WISE (Work Order Management) system from Oracle to Rdb.
DBAInc have been instrumental in data migration activities as new systems are introduced into Telstra to consolidate activities from the Telstra & Foxtel Subscriber Management systems.
Over time, and with new services being provided to customers such as Bigpond Broadband, the system has now grown to over 500 gigabytes. DBAInc has been responsible for managing the support for the database environment, to maximize efficiencies from the system. They have enabled database access for client server connectivity and other interfaces (Web, Messaging etc). DBAInc has built many data extracts, feeds, and adhoc and scheduled reports. DBAInc have provided subject matter expertise to the Telstra business on checking impacts of system changes, and new interfaces to advise on impacts these might have at a database level, as well as developing feeds to/from to the interfaces.
Outcomes and key business benefits
The WISE conversion and enhancements to WIZARD have been achieved with minimal downtime and a seamless transition for Telstra. DBAInc continually work with Telstra on any performance issues, upgrades, and work closely with other vendors such as Oracle.
